Knockout Cares’ legacy of service in Newark, New Jersey, traces back to its founder, Jordy Nivar—affectionately known as “Coach Jordy.” In the late ‘90s and 2000s, Jordy rose to prominence in the local entertainment scene through his venture, Knockout Productions. Yet, despite his success, he felt a deep urge to give back to the Roseville neighborhood that shaped him. Stepping away from the vibrant club circuit, he poured his energy into coaching and mentoring Newark’s youth, guiding them through athletics with the same passion he brought to his parties.
Fatherhood sparked a turning point for Jordy. Reflecting on his legacy, he wrestled with a single question: How can I uplift my community and leave it stronger than I found it? This drove him to action. Using his resources, he began supporting local families with essentials—food, clothing, and school supplies—easing their burdens one act of kindness at a time.
Jordy’s relentless commitment didn’t go unnoticed. Newark’s leaders and community advocates urged him to amplify his impact citywide. Inspired, he teamed up with like-minded visionaries and shared his dream of a “stronger, more resilient Newark.” From this spark, Knockout Cares was born in 2024—a beacon of hope dedicated to transforming the city, one life at a time.
